Home: a right, a dream, a contested space

  • From 2:00PM Sat 19 May 2018 To 5:00PM Sat 19 May 2018
  • Heritage

Join us for an informative and thought-provoking afternoon exploring notions of home and housing with our panel of expert speakers, as they discuss the myriad issues surrounding the concept of “home” in historic and contemporary contexts, across cultures, and through stories.

Homelessness is a growing issue for Australia with under 4% of houses built being earmarked for public use. Owning a house is for many now almost an unattainable dream. Having fled home, trying to establish a new home in a new country can be another difficult journey. How do you maintain a connection with a culture that’s no longer visible in your environment?
